I CAN FEEL, Suzy Kellems Dominik
I CAN FEEL is a 12-foot tall self-portrait of the artist using 10mm neon tubes and multiple cycles of animation. Using a narrative provided by the Kellems Dominik, I produced a series of sketches followed by technical drawings to achieve her vision. I also designed the accompanying animation sequences. The primary animation allows the piece to slowly pulsate into view, emulating the fireworks that surround her portrait.
NEON CLOCK, Personal Project and Build-Out
NEON LIBERTY BELL, Animated Wedding Gift
Suzanne Barsch for BLOOMINGDALE'S
Neon chandelier with steel armature. Inspired by the costumes of Leigh Bowery, I translated Barsch's sketches into a 3D form.
MILK BAR, Las Vegas
The well established Milk Bar logo made with Vegas flair – six-channel custom bulb animation.
W HOTEL, 42nd Street in Manhattan
Working with art directors at the W Hotel, I proposed this concept for the building's 2015 renovation. Pulling from the graphic language of Times Square – immense billboards, advertising spectaculars, movie marquees, and vibrant neon signs – I wanted to create an ode to a lost 42nd Street. Overlaid type and an array of image samples slowly fill the bar, as the animation reveals a complex visual narrative – a sailor billboard sheds it's clothes after dark, a gin bottle empties into a glass, and an all night movie marquee flickers to life with a peep show announcement.
Throughout this immense longterm project, I provided and drew the content, oversaw assembly, wiring layout, and animation design.
AREAWARE, Brooklyn New York
Large set of animated, architectural scale eyes in the Areaware's office windows. Facing the Williamsburg bridge, they were capable of shifting back and forth, rolling, and winking on the hour – seeming to follow motorists and bike riders. I produced the design layout and animation design.
GEORGIA VINTAGE, New York
Old sign, new business. Here we inserted the new pineapple logo into an extant storefront. I led design and layout efforts.
